Conduct a literature search about one of the teaching strategies that is purported to enhance critical thinking (e.g. concept-mapping, problem-based learning, reflective journaling). Provide a summary of the evidence-based research, and suggest the application of this method in a nursing education scenario.
Homework
Write a 1500 to 1750 words essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper.
o Provide an example of how humor can be used to enhance learning in nursing education (either to patients, staff, or students).
o Observe a clinical nurse educator or preceptor. What strategies do they use that enhance student learning? What do they do that obstructs student learning?
o Describe a situation in which an educator used a creative or innovative approach to promote understanding of an idea or concept. Discuss how this may influence your teaching approaches.
o Consider an innovation that was recently implemented in a health care or academic setting that you are familiar with. Using the "Process of Innovation" (Box 5-1, p. 61, Bradshaw, Hultquist, & Hagler), describe how the innovation was introduced, from assessment through evaluation.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
o The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
o The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
o Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
