A frequent tactic for highlighting naturalized or normalized gender roles is to invert them to expose the constructed nature of gendered norms.
Choose one film or television show and describe what it would be like if the gender of the main characters were swapped. For example, all men will become women, and vice versa. You can also consider how including non-binary characters would affect the narrative.
Use examples to support your answer for each question. Write using your own words, and cite when needed. A stronger answer will incorporate at least one outside, properly cited, source well in a way that adds value to your discussion.
After your brief summary of the film or TV show, answer the following questions:
a) In what ways are the gender-swapped film or show different from the original? What can these differences teach us about gender roles?
b) What storylines suddenly seem unfeasible or unrealistic?
c) How well does each character "fit" their new gender role and why.
