What exactly is a meteorologist? Go to All About Careers in Meteorology and A Career Guide for Atmospheric Sciences and read the sections "Introduction" and "Getting an Education." You can also take a look at AMS's Career Guides & Tools.
• Did you know there were so many types of meteorologists and that they do so many different types of work?
• What sort of person decides to become a meteorologist? Would you ever consider it? Why or why not?
• Are you surprised by the education and training that are required for such a career? If your niece said she was interested in become a meteorologist, what advice would you give her to help fulfill this goal? Please be as specific as possible.
