About the director: Stanley Kurbrick (1928 - 1999) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer who is known as one of the most influential filmmakers in cinematic history. Kubric co-wrote the screenplay for 2001: A Space Odyssey and also produced and directed the film in 1968. The scenes we will watch are set in the future on a space shuttle bound for Jupiter. The space shuttle is run by a computer named HAL which has some human traits.
