Problem:
Francis's views of a myth - "But myths are not lies, or at least, not always...They usually do not provide a precise record of events, but that is because they serve other purposes. Myths idealize. They select particular events and institutions [and people] which seem to embody important cultural values and elevate them to the status of legend" (p. 11).
Questions to consider. These are designed to help you think about the clip/assignment and they do not necessarily have to be answered in your assignment - the point is to answer the two question sets above.
Q1. What is the message of the clip? Is there any information that would present a counterpoint to that message? This is where research comes in.
Q2. What social attitudes existed in the period the clip is set in? Again, you will want to complete research for this.
Q3. Does the clip try to tap into the emotions of the viewer?
Q4. What images are presented in the clip? Consider the tone of the voices of the characters. Is music used? Is so, what affect does it have?
Q5. Why did you select your two peer-reviewed sources? If it is because they are short, you may want to consider choosing others.
