The Week lecture discussed the production of Westerns, using the example of the AMC series Hell on Wheels, which is centered upon the construction of the US transcontinental railway in the 19th century. In the 21st century, Amtrak passenger rail service in the US had its best year ever in 2012.
1. What role do you believe that railways will play in the future for travel in North America?
