THE ASSIGNMENT:
1. Where was Preston standing? Where were some of the other witnesses standing?
2. Why did the bells ring? Who rang them?
3. Did Preston give the order to fire? If he did not, who did?
4. Is it possible that the British were not tyrants but were simply incapable of controlling forces evolving on a distant continent?
5. What role does a crowd play in history?
