Many leaders are slow to amend organizational strategic plans to adopt new ideas or innovations unless some pressure is applied. Organizational strategic plans are often rigid and do not address the dynamic needs of the organization. In many instances change only occurs when the organization has undergone or predicts threats from the industry or competitors. Researchers suggest there are three kinds of disruptions prompting organizations to change. Select an organization of your choice that has experienced at least two of the organizational disruptions listed below:

1. Industry discontinuities-sharp changes in legal, political, economic, and technological conditions that shift the basis for competition within an industry.

2. Product life cycle shifts-changes in product life cycle that require different business strategies or business models.

3. Internal company dynamics-changes in size, corporate portfolio strategy, or executive turnover.

Based on your review of the organization and readings for this week, write an assessment in which you answer the following questions: do you believe the changes in the organization's strategic plan fully addressed the organization's short and long term needs? What recommendations do you have for leaders in implementing change during crisis and strategic planning?
