Joan of Arc was accused of witchcraft. This should surprise you since she is considered a saint in the Catholic Church and remains a national icon of France. Reflect on the following questions, using material gleaned from the film and reading. What reasons did authorities give for believing Joan was a witch? Did Joan do something "witchy," at least from the perspective of her enemies, and if so, what? How well (or poorly) does Joan reflect the classic stereotype of the witch that we have learned in this class?
