Give some thought to the issue of the aging baby boomer population and long-term care. Compare and contrast the issues around the care of older age generations of the past and the needs of the aging baby boomer population. What options are available and what, if anything, needs to be explored? Do you think the options you identified are being considered under Social Security reforms currently under consideration?

Her children are all doing well, but her husband's terminal illness in the early 1980's has left her impoverished. Sandra worked all her life in a nonunion factory. She has no pension and now is too disabled to work. Betty is a lifelong alcoholic. Married three times, never for more than three years, she has moved from place to place, working at low-paying jobs. She has two children but doesn't know where they are. Describe the public income supports on which these individuals might draw. Now list these three individuals in order of priority-who has the greatest claim on public resources.
