What purpose does watching night of the living dead hold

Problem

In class, we watched Tananarive Due, a scholar in horror noire, talk about the distinction between "Black horror" and "Black individuals in horror". With the knowledge of the separation of those two concepts, we can clearly identify Get Out as Black horror and Night of the Living Dead as an example of a horror film with a Black character as the protagonist. Given that this is a horror noire unit, why do you think I assigned a film that is not specifically horror noire? What purpose does watching Night of the Living Dead hold in relation to this topic when it does not fall so neatly into the assigned category?

Furthermore, Tananarive Due and several other horror noire scholars mentioned other Black horror films in the clips we watched, such as Us, Tales from the Hood, and Eve's Bayou. There are also some that weren't even referenced in the clips we saw, such as Black Box, Candyman (the 2021 remake, specifically), His House, Spell, Bones, and Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight. Either watch one of these films or read the plot summary of whichever compells you if you haven't seen any of them before. Do you think you would have preferred to analyze Get Out in conversation with one of these other films instead of Night of the Living Dead? Why or why not?
