Assignment ( Critical Game Review) Assignment: You may work individually or in a group of up to three (3) students in total.
Data Dealer is an online computer game.
The game deals with issues of privacy on the Internet and on social media platforms.
Your task is to play the available demo of the game, and to write a critical review of the game using the relevant class readings (Davidson 2015, Chapter 8: "Privacy in cyberspace", PIPEDA, and Christl, Wolfie et al. 2013 "Collecting, Collating, and Selling Personal Data: Data Dealer Background Information and Research").
Your review should reflect your personal opinion regarding the game and the privacy issues it addresses. In your review, consider the following questions:
1. What are the negative implications of freely posting, sharing, and circulating private information online?
2. What protection does the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) offer to Canadian citizens using online services such as social media networks?
3. How effective is this protection?
4. Does Data Dealer offer a realistic representation of online privacy issues, and the threat that social media networks pose to your privacy?
5. How could the game be improved to raise awareness of the dangers associating with the sharing of personal information online?
