Q1: Given the recent/current major judicial decisions and trend on issues concerning class, gender, sexuality, and race, and recent/current economic conditions - who or what represents your interests and needs in the US sociopolitical system? What people, organizations or institutions advocate and defend your personal economic and social interests? (200 words)

Q2: All US political issues affect Asian Americans, some more directly and heavily than others.

Based on material presented in this course, One of the two major political parties actively seeks to decrease government spending and the social and economic role of government in general, generating jobs via "the private sector", while another favors government spending to generate jobs - both contracted by government and generated by businesses - in a variety of activities important to the social and economic well-being of the nation as a whole.

US Census data and several academic studies have shown a constant decline in the material condition of the middle- and working classes since the "small-government"/anti-tax movement has controlled the direction of US politics - a period of over 40 years.

E.g., in 2010, 41% of food stamp participants were employed, earning incomes; another 47% were dependent children (persons under 18 years of age) and 8% were seniors on fixed incomes.

Objective: From an Asian American point-of-view based on US legal and political history and current conditions, explain which political approach you support to address the economic and social needs of the greater US population:

Small government/lower taxes, or government action/wealth-based tax schedule (highest 5% personal incomes taxed at 50% or higher), or a recombinant creative, but practical/realistic/doable, plan of your own.

Method: Fully explain why you prefer your chosen approach, citing appropriate historical and/or current facts and sources (either MLA or APA style).

Include reference to Asian American communities - one, several, or all - and whether and why they would be likely to support or oppose the political approach you prefer. (250-300 words)
