Essay Question: What are some of the impacts of computing solutions on society and the environment in a global economic context?
Each major category (Business, Social, and Legal) needs to be addressed in some way. Specific items listed under each category are merely examples - additional items can be added and the specific subtopics do not all need to be covered.
• Business Impacts
o Communication: How have computing solutions impacted business communication in a global context?This can include business-to-business, business-customer, business-government, or any other relevant communication.

DIRECTIONS
Students will report on readings from the Eitzen text in a thoughtful, thorough, but concise manner using terminology/concepts/theory discussed in the Payne text and readings. I am looking for analytical and critical thinking in discussions, not unsubstantiated opinions. The more in-depth you are in your analysis, the better will be the grade.
1. SYNOPSIS OF THE READING SELECTION
Include the time frame of the essay/article, the geographical location, the socio-cultural setting; the goal of this section is to introduce and to situate the article so that your reader can make sense of your analysis in the sections below.
2. RELATING THE READING SELECTION TO THE TEXTBOOK
In this section of your report, please relate and analyze what you believe the reading selection tells us about the global issue discussed. To do this, use the conceptual information from the main Payne text: Provide definition and brief description of the relevant concept/theory; identify the social and economic issues presented in the reading selection from Eitzen text. How does your reading selection relate to the concepts/theories from the Payne text? Illustrate your thoughts with examples from the article/essay and your personal or professional life, or something that you haveread about /happened in your community/workplace/country. Relate the issue/conflict discussed in the reading to things that might be happening in the US.
3. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
What overall impact did the reading selection have on you? In other words, what did you learn or how did it change/enhance your understanding? How did this reading make you feel?Be specific: did this reading selection change your perspective about a certain global problem/issue?What could be some possible solutions to the issue/problem in discussion?
