1. Credit card swipe machines at most stores require a signature as input. The scrawled signature, accomplished with a stylus on a scratched, mottled surface, often only slightly resembles the buyer's signature. At some CVS pharmacies, you don't have to sign the credit card swipe machine at all if you purchase $10 or less worth of goods.
What other inputs occur during a CVS credit card transaction, and what do you think is the added value of a signature? What processing and outputs occur?
2. A traveler just arrived at the airport and will depart in a couple of hours. List at least five information systems you can think of that he or she will have experienced in order to get on this plane before he or she steps on the jetway (the portable tunnel between the gate and the plane).
Which information system would you, as a traveler, value the most in this process and why?
