What other activities are performed from the scope of desire

Problem

"Self-indulgence is not necessarily a negative thing, and it may sometimes assist you in taking the first step toward self-love, but it is crucial to distinguish between the two." This is an excellent example illustrating the difference between self-indulgence and self-love. When we indulge, it is often from a place of desire, not reason. We see this in "The Apology" because, for Plato, self-love would be a rational endeavor as no sensible person does evil to themselves intentionally. What other activities are performed from the scope of desire outside of reason?
