Yoder and Wise are interrelated because change in health care can create conflict. Unresolved conflict can lead to stress and unhealthy work teams. Change in health care is inevitable and often out of the nurses locus of control. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) recognizes the value of healthy communication amongst hospital team members which intern leads to healthy teams. Take the conflict self-assessment test in and analyze your approach to dealing with conflict in the workplace. What mode of conflict resolution do you prefer? What mode of resolution would you find most difficult to deal with in a co-worker? What would you like to change? Discuss the pros and cons of conflict in organizations.
