A researcher studies aggression among adolescents (aged 13 to 15) by observing behavior in middle-school hallways. She counts the number of instances of physical aggression, such as hitting, shoving, and threatening or hostile gestures. After 10 weeks of observations, she analyzes her data. The data show that males displayed a significantly higher mean number of aggressive behaviors than did females. She concludes that there are sex differences in aggression: males are more aggressive than females.
