In 2002, The Joint Commission began a campaign called, "Speak Up." Patients are encouraged to be actively involved in their care. It is estimated that this push to get patients aware and involved in their care has prevented errors and saved lives.

• How can you encourage your patient to speak up when receiving a medication(s)?
