What makes him or her unique abnormal behaviors and traits

Problem

Making an accurate diagnosis is essential to this class. This can be a fictional character, television, literary or movie personality, celebrity, anyone that you don't personally know. You will make a full diagnosis of the person as well as provide an explanation for the disorder etiology, a prognosis, and treatment recommendations.

1) Background of person: Give an overview of who this person is/was, age, job, what makes him or her unique, abnormal behaviors and traits that may exist and any other significant information to help illustrate who this person is. If it is a character from a film, book, or program give a brief overview of it as well.

2) DSM-5 diagnosis: Using DSM-5 criteria for a specific disorder(s) make an accurate diagnosis for the person. Provide the criteria of the specific disorder you selected. Match the disorder specific criteria to the behaviors and traits of the individual you selected. Be direct, specific, and clear in connections between diagnostic criteria and the person.

3) Prognosis: Make an educated guess based on the character, the specific diagnosis, and research as to what the likely outcome or direction this person's life will go. You will be guessing on this in most cases (unless the person died), but your prognosis should be logical for that person and the diagnosis.

4) Treatment recommendations: Provide a holistic (behavioral modification, counseling, medication (if necessary), relationship advice, etc.) for how this person could improve life going forward with this diagnosis. Think about all the areas this person could improve life, mental health, and functioning by changing.
