What makes certain individuals more vulnerable

Problem

Share your thoughts here and be detailed as possible in answering this questions. Do you believe the way we approach adolescence today is beneficial to teens and their development, or is it detrimental? Defend your position. Provide two examples to support your argument. These examples can be based on your own experiences and observations, as well as research.

Adolescence doesn't occur in a vacuum. We discover that the early experiences of an individual greatly influence their later development. Yet, in the case of early negative experiences, most individuals are eventually able to "right" themselves. In other words, they turn out okay as adults.

Why do you think this happens? On the flip side, what makes certain individuals more vulnerable (i.e., continue on a negative pathway of development, never "righting" themselves)? Defend your position with evidence from any textbook or your own research.
