Engineering and the need for engineering economy has been heavily affected by federal legislation. Examples include the Apollo program, the interstate highway system, the Clean Air Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. What legislation or programs may have major impacts within the next 3 to 5 years? How can the size of that impact be estimated? Which engineering specialties will see demand increase or decrease?
