Problem:
Respond to the following peer in a meaningful and encouraging way. Be brief and to the point.
Peer: I have an ACE score of 7. During my childhood, there were several factors that I believe that have led to the resilience that I possess today. My mother and father were both in active substance abuse. This often brought many things that come along with substance use such as domestic violence, neglect, and emotional abuse. My parents were eventually arrested for the drug use and I then was raised by my grandmother from this point forward. While my grandmother was very caring and loving, she had some untreated mental health concerns that caused irrational outburst of anger. Through all of this, I am grateful for the experiences that this has brought. Though painful at times, it has caused me to develop an unmatched sense of resilience. I do not fret at a struggle or obstacle that is in my way. I have learned that not every relationship deserves to be tended to. On the contrary, this has taught me that the healthy relationships that I possess are sacred and should be treated as such. I can remember my mother telling me "there is a 99% chance that you are a drug addict since your father and I are". For the longest time, those words would echo and this gave me the drive to deter from any substance. Although, some of the experiences were difficult at times, I now work as a child protective services social worker who can intervene in instances when children need it the most. When children have no voice, I raise my voice and ensure that they are heard. One person that was always there for me was my grandfather. If my resilience came from any single person in the world, it came from him. He talked me through many scenarios that were very difficult in my childhood. I still use some of the things that he said to overcome challenges today. Need Assignment Help?
