Homework: SWOT and Strategy
Prior to beginning work on this homework, review the following through the Growing Your Business simulation, the Strategy video available in the Supplementary Review Materials through the Help section, read through the pop-up screen titled Thoughts as you prepare your Strategy that will show when you go to the SWOT and Strategy tab of the TriCorp simulation, read the Internal Emails, and read the Welcome on Board memos. Additionally, read The U.S. Medical Device Industry: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, The Potential of Medical Device Industry in Technological and Economical Context, and Introduction to the Special Issue.
The final section that must be completed in the Growing Your Business simulation is your SWOT and Strategy. Your Strategy, in particular, should be guiding all of your decisions (in the corporate world one of the primary reasons business commitments are not met is the misalignment between decisions and strategy). This will be your compass when making decisions for your organization.
Journal Problem
Include a cover page and 1-2 pages of reflection regarding what learnings you've taken away from the activities, readings, videos, and other information you found noteworthy. Critically consider the challenges you faced in becoming familiar with the simulation, making operating decisions, and analyzing the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats faced by HISCO. Lastly consider how to apply lessons to your career field. Every job that you perform for your employer has budgetary and time constraints. Often choices have to be made about the quality of the project. There is only so much money that can be dedicated to your position within the company and the tasks that are assigned to you. Consider how budgeting impacts the work that you perform.
Format your homework according to the following formatting requirements:
(1) The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
(2) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the homework, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
(3) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
