Assignment task: What is your understanding of global competence? Use course readings and your own experience to explain how global competence affects international human resource management. Imagine yourself as a global HRM professional, which competence you are currently lacking that can be improved? What steps you would need to take to make that improvement?
Here is a thought about language. Some students think that language can be an obstacle to work overseas. However, it is never too late to learn a new language and it can even have some health benefits (Bak, Nissan, Allerhand, & Deary, 2014). Meanwhile, knowing other countries' histories and cultures can also help us have a better understanding of ourselves, as well as this planet we are living in because we are all connected.
