1. As you learned in chapter two, both stereotyping and prejudice can lead to discrimination. This movie is no exception. Therefore, identify an example of discrimination that occurs within the film. Make sure to also discuss the specific stereotype or prejudice held that lead to the discriminatory act.
2. One thing that happens in the film is that peoples' assumptions and stereotypes prevent them from seeing the actual person standing before them. Choose one scene and point out the specific stereotype(s) that prevent(s) one character from seeing another character for who they really are. Make sure to address what specifically is causing one character to stereotype another character. In addition, make sure to discuss why the character's assumption about the other character is inaccurate.
3. Anger and/or hurt seems to plague more than one character in this film. Identify one of these characters and discuss what is causing them to feel this way. Sometimes, when we are angry and/or hurt, we say things we do not necessarily mean and/or believe. With this in mind, should we be willing to forgive and/or overlook those who use racial insults/racially charged language when dealing with a similar circumstance? Why or why not?
4. Cathy Schulman (producer) said this film is "about real life" Thandie Newton stated the film has "realism" Don Cheadle said "this is what goes down. This is how people think. This is how people talk". Do you agree that this film portrays a realistic account of human nature? Why or why not?
