Assignment:
Early in 2021, Mississippi, Idaho, and Arkansas became the first states to ban transgender athletes from participating in sports (particularly transgender women from participating in women's sports). On October 25th, 2021, Texas Governor signed H.B. 25 into law which will require K-12 student athletes who compete in interscholastic competition to play on sports teams that correspond with the sex listed on their birth certificate, as opposed to the one they identify with. The new law went into effect on January 18th, 2022 in Texas.
Do some research and answer the following questions:
Part I: What are the arguments to support allowing transgender individuals in sports? Explain.
Part II. What are the arguments to oppose allowing transgender individuals in sports? Explain.
Part III. What is your opinion about this law? Do you support it or oppose it? Explain.
Part IV. Do you think this law should be adopted as a federal law or should it be up to each state? Explain.
