Part I
Open a search engine of your choice. Include the link/url in your assignment so I can easily check for the following information.
Search for the phrase "free personality test." You will find links for many free tests based on the various personality theories.
Select and complete one test, and then answer the following questions.
• Explain which test you took.
• What did your results say? (You may paste the results page here if you like.)
• Did the page mention what theorist the test used to develop the test (such as Jung, etc.)? While taking the test, did the questions seem to correlate with the theory? Why or why not?
• Provide a thoughtful description of your personality. Do you think the results were accurate? If not, then what was inaccurate?
• Would you want this personality assessment to be used by a place of employment to match you to a job environment? To select you for a position? Why or why not?
• What is your evaluation of your personality assessment and did you find it helpful? Do you believe this test to be valid and reliable? Explain.
Some people are concerned about their grades so I wanted to provide some insights about this assignment that will help you get ALL points. So, read them and apply them to your assignment to help you.
There are two places that most people lose points is that they do not look closely enough at the information on the website to see if the theorist used to develop the test is discussed. It's usually on the "About this test" section or something similar but most of them do have a section on it. Or the test is called "The Big Five" it's obvious what theory it is based on when it's in the name.
The other place people lose points on this assignment is on #4. It says to "Provide a thoughtful description of your personality." This is step 1 of this item. After you have given a thoughtful description of your own personality, then you are to discuss whether the results were accurate or not. If you do not give a "thoughtful description" but just talk about the results of the test you will lose points on the assignment.
This is a really easy assignment if you follow all of the steps and discuss everything that is requested. Please ask questions before you submit your assignment if you are unclear about something.
Be sure to include the URL of the test you take for grading purposes.
Part II
Discussion 1:
An area of psychology that deals mostly with products and services (developing, marketing, advertising) is called Consumer Psychology. This is talked about in Chapter 15 in our text.
Consider this question: Why might online survey methods be particularly useful for learning about behaviors known to negatively impact on health, such as smoking?
Class, what are your thoughts?
Discussion 2:
In regard to personality, what is the difference between a "state" and a "trait"? Can you give an example of each?
Discussion 3:
Why might it be critically important for some employers to know if their employees are burning out? Besides a test, how else might burnout be gauged?
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
3. Also include a reference page. The Citations and references should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
