Value chain analysis is an analytical framework to evaluate the strategic capability of an organization through its supply chain activities. Read the case "Interview with Victor Fung of Li and Ring" from Harvard Business. Review in Appendix 1 and apply Michael E Porter's value chain model to analyze the strategic capability of Li and Fang.
Guidelines on content
1. You are expected to mention. Five value chain activity in the case by using Michael E Porter's model. Each value chain activity will comprise of three items:
(a) what is the value chain activity from the case;
(b) what are the primary and support activities involved; and
(c) what are the value created when compared with competitors so as to bring out the competitive advantages of Li & Fung.
There are total 5 value chain activity needs to be mentioned and hence the total marks of this assignment is 100 marks.
2. There is no need to repeat theory of value chain and perform additional research. Use the case as the basis for your analysis.
3. Try to be as specific as possible by quoting case materials to support your answers.
