Discussion Post: RTI Model
The Response to Intervention (RTI) model can be very valuable for students with individual needs. In this video, you will see how teacher leader Nicole Andrea Bergeron works with a preschool teacher, Jessica, to supplement her vocabulary instruction for all students, but especially for students who may be candidates for additional support (i.e., a three-tier approach).
• What is the purpose of a RTI model? What are examples of data analysis that teachers engage in to make good decisions about which students would benefit from a three-tier approach?
• How does having educators work as a team benefit everyone involved? How does collaboration help shed light on designing a three-tier program and monitoring a child's progress throughout the year?
