Which moment from Fences was the most dramatic to you? Write one paragraph (at least 7 sentences). What was that moment? Why is it such an important and dramatic moment? How did it make you feel? Why is the moment important in terms of how it impacts the world of the play.

The most dramatic scene from the play to me was the day of Troy's funeral. When Cory comes home from the Marines in his uniform, and sees his mother and they share an emotional embrace. Rose tells him how his father died of a heart attack while swinging his bat at the baseball that hangs from a tree in their backyard. Cory tells Rose that he is not planning on attending his father's funeral, he is still holding a grudge. Rose like the strong and kind hearted woman that she is tells him that by not attending the funeral he is disrespecting his father and that does not make him a man. His father has passed and it was time to put the past aside. This scene made me feel happy and sad at the same time of how Rose was able have control of the entire situation.
