Assignment Problem: For this activity, look at the labels on your clothing, sneakers, electronics or anything else you own. Choose five items and find out where they're made. For each item you select, see if you can complete the following tasks:

Research: A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their employees-the price floor below which employees may not sell their labor. Per capita gross domestic product (GDP) measures a country's economic output per person and is calculated by dividing the GDP of a country by its population. Using a computer or your phones, find out the minimum wage (Wikipedia) and the G.D.P. per capita (World Bank) for the countries you identified.  Specifically:

What is the minimum wage in each of the countries?

What is the GDP per capita in each of the countries?

For comparison--if the US is not on your list already--what is the minimum wage in the U.S.?  What is the U.S. GDP per capita

Reflect:  Share what you noticed or learned completing this assignment.  Where do most of the items that you purchase appear to come from?  What trends do you notice about the countries that produce most of the goods that you identified? How do wages and economic activity in these countries compare to wages and economic activity in the United States?
