What is the mass flow rate going around the cycle

A 500 MW electric station, utilizes a Rankine Cycle power plant with superheat. The steam temperature and pressure at the turbine inlet are 1000ºF and 2000 psia. The temperature of the condensing steam in the condenser is maintained at 60ºF. Assume all processes to be ideal.

A.) Draw a sketch of the cycle on the T-s diagram

B.) Determine the cycle thermal efficiency

C.) What is the mass flow rate going around the cycle?

D.) Determine the rate at which heat must be added to the boiler

E.) The boiler is heated by the combustion of coal. The heating value of coal is 12,000 Btu's per poiund of coal. NInety percent of this value is available for the boiler (the other ten goes up the smoke stack). Determine the tons of coal required per hour to fuel the plant.

F.) The heat rejected from the power plant in the condenser goes into cooling water supplied from a large lake. If the allowable temperature increase can only be 8ºF, what would teh mass flow rate of cooling water have to be? (let Cp= 1.0 Btu/lb R)
