This is probably more true in the short run rather than long term. The immediate impact of being unemployed is shame, loss of status and despair. Under these circumstances most men will withdraw and not focus on work on the house that needs to be done. If the couple has a good relationship and long term plan about how to ride out the financial storm, the husband will more than likely increase his share of the duties.
What is the main difference between cohabitation and marriage?
A) The age at which people cohabitate usually ends at around 30.
B) Cohabitation is never permanent whereas most marriages are.
C) There is a greater degree of financial and emotional commitment in marriage.
D) Marriage is a more fragile and more likely to end in separation.
Okay this is something of a toss-up depending on the perspective of your teacher and his/her agenda. The statistics show that C is definitely true especially if you focus on the word commitment which means a devotion or unconditional bond. Cohabitation is typically entered with the idea that "I can get out if this doesn't work the way I want it to" which is the opposite of commitment.

The only part of this question that makes it questionable is the use of the word NEVER in. Statistics show that most cohabitations last less than 29 months with many ending after only a few months or even weeks. However, we know that the word NEVER can be a trick in multiple choice questions. I'm sure we could find a few examples of permanent cohabitation and that would make correct.
