Problem
1) What is the genre of these articles, and how do you know? It's not an academic genre of writing, but a genre of writing nonetheless.
2) What are a few features of the genre? Do you recognize these features in other articles you might have read that use this genre?
3) Consider the sixth "move" Teresa Thonney says all academic writers make: Academic writers emphasize, often in tables, graphs, and images. While these articles are not academic writing, they still might need to present evidence regarding the topic. What evidence does each writer employ and how are they using it?
4) Consider the way each article uses images. Do the photos used in each article change how you might interpret the story? Why do you think each article chose to use the pictures they did?
5) Even though the authors are different, the topic and approach of each article are nearly identical. But is the intended audience for each article identical as well? When considering this question, I want you to consider using images again. Also, think about the publication source for each article.
