8-year old child is brought to her physician because she has crusted lesions on her scalp. She was treated with corticosteroids for two weeks with no alleviation of symptoms. Her sister and mother began to have symptoms over the past couple days. The lesions have progressed to the arms and legs of the mother and sister. Pruritus is occurring without pus at the lesions. The skin appears like scales. Sample are taken from the lesions and stained with potassium hydroxide.
