• Discuss the repetitive behaviors that those with ASD may perform. Differentiate between lower an higher order repetitive behaviors. What role do repetitive behaviors play in typically developing children and how they differ in individuals with ASD. What are the negative impacts?
• What is the current debate about using the term stimming or self-stimulatory behavior? What ideas/suggestions do you have for a compromise between adaptation (changing/reducing repetitive behaviors) and acceptance of the behavior?
