What is the biggest aspect of social influence

Problem:

One situation where I influenced another adult was with my sister. She always talked about wanting a better future for herself, but she honestly did not believe she was smart enough or capable of going to college. I spent a lot of time encouraging her and reminding her that she was more capable than she thought. I would talk to her about her strengths, share my own experiences with returning to school, and remind her that a lot of people feel nervous or insecure when starting something new. I also helped her look into programs and explained that she did not have to have everything figured out immediately.

The biggest aspect of social influence I used was persuasion. According to The Dynamics of Persuasion, persuasion involves communication that is meant to shape or change attitudes and behaviors. At the time, I honestly did not think of it as persuasion I just wanted my sister to believe in herself more. I was not trying to manipulate or pressure her. Instead, I used encouragement, emotional support, and personal examples to help build her confidence. My influence was successful because my sister eventually enrolled in college classes. Seeing her take that step made me realize how powerful positive encouragement can be. I think what helped most was that she trusted me and felt understood instead of judged.

Looking back now, I would still use the same type of influence today because supportive persuasion can really help people when they doubt themselves. I think encouragement and leading by example are much healthier and more effective than using pressure or fear. Sometimes people just need someone to remind them they are capable of more than they believe. Need Assignment Help?
