c) How stable is your political system? (have there been any coups or attempted coups in the last 10-15 years) How long has the current government been in power?
d) Do neighbouring countries have the same political system? If yes, which ones; if no, what countries are they and what systems do they have?
e) Identify 2-3 domestic issues that are hot topics - give a brief description as to why.
f) When did your country join the UN?
2) Pertinent Cultural Facts:
a) Identify any human rights abuses within the last 5 years. What is your country's gender inequality index? How does this compare to Canada's?
b) Are church and state separate within your country? If not, explain how the church exerts its power. Note: by church I mean, religion
c) Identify any major social changes that are occurring (eg. movement from the country to the city; changing personal freedoms, aging population, etc..)
3) Pertinent Geographical Facts:
a) Is your country involved in any territorial disputes? If yes, where and with whom?
b) Describe the climate of your country.
c) What percent of the land is arable?
d) What natural disasters are common?
4) Pertinent Economic Facts:
a) Identify your import and export partners. What products/goods do you import and export?
b) What is your balance of trade?
c) What part of your economy is growing?
d) What is the biggest complaint that companies have about doing business in your country?
e) What is the role of Multinational Corporations in your country?
f) How does the economic situation in your country affect the political situation?
5) Pertinent Defense Facts:
a) What are your country's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons policies (what international agreements for these weapons have you or haven't you signed)?
b) What are your country's military capabilities? (eg. which of the above weapons do you have, what other types of weapons do you have (eg. including types of aircraft, number of army/navy/air force/special corps etc..)
c) Where are your military bases located?
d) What is your country's contribution to UN peacekeeping?
6) Worldview:
a) What countries do you not have diplomatic relations with?
b) Identify the international agencies and geo-political groups in addition to the UN that you are members of?
c) What is your country's reputation in the world? How do others view you?
