You Decide: What is the most important number in the financial statements-net income or EPS?
Response to the following problem:
You were talking with some of your friends, who are finance majors, and they said that the most important number in the financial statements is the earnings per share figure on the income statement. One friend said, "EPS is the only number Wall Street cares about!"
Some of your fellow students in accounting believe, however, that net income and the income statement are much more important than a single EPS figure.
