What is Microbodies ?

Microbodies : Microbodies are formed by pinching off of vesicles from rough endoplasmic reticulum. They are not found in every cell, but are present at some time in just about every species of eukaryote.

One type, called a peroxisome, forms hydrogen peroxide, H2O2, through a chemical reaction. The peroxides are broken down within the membrane of the peroxisome.

In some plants, a microbody called glyoxysome is the site where stored lipids are converted into carbohydrates.
