Read Plato's story of the cave. It is in the files section. For Plato, the people in the cave represent ordinary people in our world. What is the story saying about them? What is it saying about our normal knowledge of reality? What does the world outside the cave stand for? Why does the man who gets out of the cave go back in to tell his friends of his discovery? Why do you think many people are afraid of getting out of the cave? If you were given the chance to get out of the cave, do you think you would take the chance?
