"Discrimination comes in all forums, The difference types of discrimination are: (1) religious, (2) gender, (3) sexual orientation, (4) national origin culture, tribal, (5) racial, including color based on skin tone, (6) class and caste, (7) political, and (8) personal characteristics which includes disability, age, and appearance (Karger & Stoesz, 2022). Discrimination is an act that is caused by a negative attitude toward another person. Discrimination can occur because of a persons ethnic or racial difference between individuals. Discrimination can refer to willful denial of a persons opportunity for rights and privileges based on their race, gender, sex, and other aspects (Staff Writer, 2020).

Discrimination can occur anywhere. Such as schools, workplaces, and communities. Take for instance a student comes to school from another country. Their English may not be very good. They may be left out of certain activities because of their speech.

Racism is a form of discrimination and prejudice against another person because of racial difference or minorities. Because of racism it could affect a person be hired or promoted because of their race or ethnicity. A person may feel the affects of racism because of their demographics Karger & Stoesz, 2022). This writer worked at a state prison and did not see racism with hiring or promotions because of race. This writer did see racism the way the inmates were treated. The white inmates got the better jobs over the other races. This is not fair. The only way to change this is to begin with the individual wanting to change.
