Problem:
After watching the video Kati Morton's video "What Is Imposter Syndrome?", I think Tara Westover definitely experienced imposter syndrome in Educated. According to the video, imposter syndrome happens when capable people doubt their accomplishments and fear being exposed as a fraud. Tara shows this repeatedly. When she arrives at BYU, she feels out of place because she doesn't even know basic things her classmates take for granted, like what the Holocaust was. Later, at Cambridge, she describes feeling more comfortable sitting on a roof than being inside with other students, as if she doesn't belong in that world. Even though Tara earns scholarships and praise from her professors, she keeps questioning whether she deserves her success. This matches Kati Morton's idea that imposter syndrome makes people attribute achievements to luck instead of ability. Tara's constant self-doubt and discomfort in academic spaces are clear signs that she was struggling with imposter syndrome.
