Franklin's The Autobiograhy, discuss the following:
1. In the opening letter to Franklin's son, he mentions his own Vanity and suggests it is a gift. What role does vanity seem to play in the rest of the Autobiography? Would Franklin consider the role of vanity in our lives today positive?
2. What is Franklin's position on Faith and religious belief? How do his moral/ethical virtues compare to those of the Puritans?
3. If we read Franklin as a blueprint for being an American, how well does it hold up in today's world? Should we still be striving for these standards? Are there some that are out of place in our more modern America?
4. What do you think Franklin would think of modern America?
