Q - What is either your favorite or least liked image by Sally Mann, Why? What does it make you think of?
A - I found myself engrossed in her story and her photographs. She said in one interview that she set out to become a writer, but found that too difficult, so she moved on to photography. My favorite picture (though it was hard to choose) has to be this . It's simple, almost mundane. It reminds me of my childhood growing up in Alabama. My siblings and I were pretty much outside all day, only coming indoors to eat or when it was dark. We had little supervision and were left to entertain ourselves. This photo resonates with me in just that way.
