You have the opportunity to close on your company's first big order, and order that could conceivably save the company's life. The order has a value of $10M. Through discussions with the potential customer, you come to understand that a gift of $10,000 is customary in this situation, You check with a colleague or two and they confirm that "gift giving" is common in China.
