What is a Cell?

The body of every living being is made up a living matter or bio matter. In the organisms these matters occur only in the form of minute membrane bound unit lumps or masses called cells. Thus cells are the smallest basic units of biological organization just as the atoms are the fundamental structural unites of all matter and bricks are the structural unites of a house. Organisms are either unicellular with the whole body comprising single independent, free living cell, or multicellular with their bodies formed of a few to innumerable cells adapted for the harmonious integrated life of the body.
