Jose's parents are going through a divorce. Jose is stressed because his father keeps coming to him with complaints about Jose's mother and provides him with details about their relationship that Jose would rather not know. Jose is upset but doesn't understand why this situation is so stressful. Use your knowledge about boundaries to help Jose understand why this is so stressful and give him advice on which type of boundaries are best to achieve stability.

Family Development

Marshall and Lilly had a baby during their senior year of high school. After graduation, they got married and Marshall started working. A few years later, Lilly also entered the workforce. A few years after that, Lilly decided to enroll in college courses at UNR to work towards a Bachelor's degree in HDFS. According to Family Development theory, the concept of timing has multiple meanings. Explain how timing, specifically norms and sequencing, has influenced the development of Lilly's family.

Family Stress

The Smith family, made up of Jenny (30), Julie (40), and Jessica (8), just found out the mom Jenny has breast cancer. The Smith family has a great deal of family support however, is not very supportive of their LGBT family and they encounter discrimination frequently.  Using both the ABC-X and Double ABC-X models, discuss how the Smith family might evaluate their situation. Identify whether you believe the ABC-X or Double ABC-X model is more applicable to this family and why you believe that.
