Many hoped an investment by the current administration in clean energy would improve our electric grids and create the so called 'smart' electric grids that will increase the efficiency and operability of the nation's old, inefficient system. On Oct. 27, 2009 this hope became reality when over 100 smart grid projects received federal funding to turbo charge the industry.
What in your definition a "smart electric grid"? Would the recently passed federal stimulus dramatically increase the health of our electric transmission system OR will it be a drop in the bucket? Why or why not? Would security vulnerability increase by widespread implementation of such systems and what can be done to reduce the vulnerabilities?
